Shilpa Shirodkar on working in Kalinga, Singer & Ladies Only
When asked about her film Kalinga directed by Dilip Kumar, Shilpa Shirodkar said, “I didn’t lose out on Kalinga. I worked in Kalinga, but Kalinga was never completed; it was midway. So I actually shot for it, and we did a very, very beautiful shoot in Mumbai. We shot in Jodhpur, aur bohot ki unbelievable role hai mera uss film me. Agar kabhi film bane toh log dekhenge, maine beech me suna tha ki they are planning to complete and release the film. Toh agar woh film complete hoti hai aur release hoti hai, toh people will see a beautiful Shilpa Shirodkar, who has been directed by none other than Mr Dilip Kumar.”
The actress added, “‘Singer’ film bhi shoot hui thi aur humne Shimla me shoot bhi kar chuke the. You know, yesterday I went for an interview. And they were talking about all these shelf films. I was like, 2 films toh mai bhul hi gayi thi. I had completely forgotten about those films, toh Singer is there. And woh film bhi about 80-85% ready thi. And I have no idea why these films were never able to be completed.”
Shilpa on not completing Ladies Only
Talking about her film Ladies Only with Kamal Haasan,“‘Ladies Only,’ Kamal ji ke saath yeh film bhi nearly ready this. What a funny film that was, oh god, hum log ne Chennai me I think 45 days kaam kiya. Comedy to another level. There was me, Seema Biswas, and Heera, another girl who was very, very big in the South at that time, and there was Randhir Kapoor, and there was Kamal Ji in a guest appearance. It was hilarious! The story was about these 3 women, and it was too funny, too funny. But it just didn’t work; it wasn’t completed and didn’t see a release. Toh agar mere producer sunn rahe hai, toh please inko complete karke aur unko aane dijiye. Yeh bohot acchi acchi filme hai.”
